My Story, My Healing: Mind, Body and Spirit
by Teresa Turner
One thing that I’ve prided myself on is being open and transparent about my own journey. Today, I’d like to share my story with you.
Six weeks ago, I began working with Coach Kiesha Easley. I’ve lost weight, about 10 pounds over the past 6 weeks, most of which was fat (I have a fancy scale).
I’ve followed Kiesha, Worth the Weight, for a few days before reaching out to her to set up a 30-minute initial consultation. From our very first conversation, I felt respected, supported and heard. Kiesha heard my personal story of weight and she heard my frustration with the cycle of losing weight and gaining it back. Kiesha shared her own story, (of losing 75 pounds herself) the things she’s learned about her self during the journey, and her desire to help others find their own happy ending.
I signed up for a six-week coaching cycle with Kiesha. I felt that this time would be different because I would have a coach that would work with me each day. That consistent accountability partner was essential to my success. Each morning, Kiesha would send me a text that would frame my day and put me on the right path. During the day, she would check in to see how breakfast and lunch had gone. Then in the evenings, she’d text to see not only what I was eating for dinner, but check in with me on how my day went overall. She’d ask if there were any issues she could help me work through and what was my plan for success for the upcoming day.
It was like having a little coach on my shoulder during the day. Someone who cheered me on, but also someone who would pick me up when I fell. I will never forget in one of our initial conversations she said “Reach out to me before you eat something off the yes list. That way, I can help you process your way through the craving.”
I’d never experienced that level of coaching before.
Then, each weekend, we would talk on the phone (Zoom meetings) and review the week. She always ended the conversation with giving me a journal prompt for the week and sometimes even a challenge for the week.
That kept the whole process both reflective and fun! Without a doubt, Kiesha Easley, is amazing.
One thing I learned from Kiesha was to keep my focus on the positives. To count my blessings and acknowledge the miracles God had already done in my life.
One huge (HUGE) miracle was around healing of my back. When I first started working with Kiesha I was having back issues. I had persistent lower back pain and was taking over-the-counter meds just to tolerate the pain. I had been in pain for about 6-7 weeks prior to my first coaching session with Kiesha. One evening, Kiesha asked me if there was anything I wanted her to pray for (for me) and I shared with her my issues with my back.
Not only did she pray, but she was constantly checking in with me on my pain level. She encouraged me to not take any over-the-counter pain meds unless my pain was intolerable (it’s apart of the Plant Paradox method to avoid anti-inflammatory medicine). As we continued working together and talking each day, Kiesha noticed that my pain was not subsiding and suggested that I go to the doctor. She also shared that she was going to a chiropractor and suggested I check them out. Before the text conversation was over, I’d already googled her chiropractor and had made an appointment for that afternoon.
Fast forward four weeks, I’m pain-free. That’s huge! I went from a level 8 or 9 to a 0 to 1 within 4 weeks of chiropractic visits (Max Living on O’Neil Ct in Columbia, SC). On top of being pain-free, between changing my eating habits and going to the chiropractor, my cycle (I was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago) returned to normal too.
So when people talk about miracles, I quickly chime in and tell them about my own. Life is so sweet now. The brain fog has lifted, I feel great, I’m losing weight and making healthier choices at every meal.
I contribute this to Kiesha, the best Christian Health Coach in the universe. Thanks to her prayers, prayers for me and with me, her focus on a good, clean, low sugar diet (Dr. Gundry’s Plant Paradox), daily encouragement and her genuine care for me… I’m living my best life. Thanks, Kiesha for sharing your gift with me and with the world.
