My weight loss journey began with me at 261 pounds, wearing a size 20. My eating habits were less than ideal and showed in the continuous reports of being pre-diabetic.
For my birthday, I took pictures and was absolutely saddened by what I saw when I got them back. I hadn’t even realized how much weight I had gained and had no idea how I was going to get it off.
My experiences with exercise and weight loss in the past had not been positive. A month and a half later, I decided to truly do something about my weight. I was having issues with my joints, being tired, pre-diabetic and just feeling uncomfortable in my own skin.
I always had an inclination that breads and other starches were a main factor in storing fat so I decided to cut out starches, fried and processed foods. I had seen how Kiesha lost weight and was curious about what she had done to lose it. She graciously shared with me her weight loss journey and the things she changed to help her. She explained how there are certain poisons in foods that make us sick or cause our bodies to build a resistance to burning it off. She listed the foods that were optimal for weight loss and the ones that we should stay away from. It surprised me how many of them had been deemed healthy my entire life.
I’m grateful for Kiesha’s insight and her willingness to share her findings and story in her book “Worth the Weight”. Although I have a slightly different dietary plan from the one she recommends, I continue to seek wisdom and guidance from her and the book in regards to foods I should eat and not eat. I am proud to say that 5 months, 3 weeks, and 4 days later, I am down to my first big weight loss goal of 220 with a total loss of 41 pounds! I am still losing weight and now wear a size 16 in my clothes. I still have a ways to go but I am grateful for the insight and encouragement that Kiesha provided to me. It was definitely the push I needed sometimes to stay on the straight and narrow. I am excited to get to my next goal weight!
